Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is planning to develop Gargai Dam project in Oghade village in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The project involves setting up of a check dam to increase water supply to Mumbai city. In November 2019, the municipal corp has approved an investment of ₹ 148 crore to acquire land in order to start the Gargai Dam project. The project, spread across 849 ha, will be built on the Gargai river, which is a tributary of the Vaitarna river.
