Maharashtra to develop new greenfield Purandar airport

Maharashtra Government is planning to develop a greenfield airport in Purandar near Pune in the state. The new airport will spread over 2,400 hectare, the airport will be constructed by the Airports Authority of India. The airport is located in proximity with national highways of NH-4 and NH-17. It will also connects a special ring-road with major industrial establishments from Hadapsar. The proposed airport will have two airstrips, each with a length of 4 km. It will handle cargo along with passenger traffic. In May 2018, the airport project has received site clearance from union civil aviation ministry.
